Competition, Contents and Broadband for the Internet
in Europe
CoCombine is an
EU Framework Programme 6 Specific Support Action
The EU project
COCOMBINE studies the Economics of the Internet. It has a special focus
on the Upstream Internet Sector, Internet Backbones, Internet Exchange
Points, Peering and Transit Agreements and Competion Policy. A special
work package is also focussing on the Dowstream Impact of the Diffusion
of Broadband in Europe.
The 10 partners from industry and academia are producing a series of reports on :
- Interconnection agreements and bandwidth pricing in the upstream market
- Spatial, and relational, organisation of peering networks , both at national and continental levels
- Termination rates and access prices for accessing unbundled local loops and for wireless access
- Regulation and Competition Policy for the Internet

Features of downstream markets such as retail, e-marketing and
localised spillovers affecting local economies in peripheral regions.
