How do I set an Automatic Reply in Hermes?

Go to https://webmail.hermes.cam.ac.uk/ and login.

Click on the "Manage" icon at the top of the screen

Under "Mail Processing" click on "Vacation"

Type your message that you want people to be sent in the box, then tick the "Enable Vacation Message" box and click Apply.

Logout from Webmail by clicking on the "Logout" icon in the top right hand corner of the screen.

Advanced Options

Interval - Automatic replies do not get sent to every email you receive. Once a user has been sent an automatic reply Hermes assumes that they already know, and does not send another. This is to stop people who send you several messages a day getting an automatic reply every time. By default this is set to 31 days, which means that after getting an automatic reply, the same sender will not get another automatic reply for 31 days. This applies even if you change your message.

Aliases - Automatic replies are only sent to messages which contain your email address in the To: or CC: fields, which means they will not be sent to the mailing lists that you belong to or any departmental aliases (eg enquiries@dept.cam.ac.uk). If you wish these emails to be replied to, then you need to put theses addreses in the alias field, separated by commas.
