About the CQEH

The Centre promotes research in economic history emphasising the use of economic analysis and quantitative methods. Current research covers a wide variety of economies across the world: the UK, the USA, Europe, Australia, India, Mexico and Japan. Chronologically, it covers a very long timespan, from c. 1000 to c. 2000. The array of economic and historical problems examined is very wide, ranging from the microeconomics of the family to macroeconomic stability. Central to all research in the Centre, however, is the careful collection and rigorous analysis of historical data on human economic activity.
