How to interpret the classmarkOpen shelf material
This location and classmark indicates books which are arranged numerically around the lower part of the Library. The bays are clearly marked with the classmarks of the books that they contain. Recently purchased books are held for about one week on the "New Books" shelf, by the computer catalogues in the library reception area. A lower case letter after the classmark refers to the edition, where there is more than one edition in the collection. The 'e' in the example above indicates the fifth edition. If a classmark is preceded by the word PAMPHLET it indicates that the item is located at the end of the book sequence.
This location and classmark indicates books which are stored in the Basement. They have to be requested using slips available at the Loans Counter. Basement items are fetched at 11.30 a.m. and again at 2.30 p.m. Basement items all have open shelf status, except for journal and counter items.
Most working papers are arranged alphabetically (by the name of the issuing institution) on the right-hand side of the Gallery after the journal sequence. They are stored in boxes labelled with the numbers that they contain. Older working papers are located in the Basement. You should consult the Marshall Library List of Working Papers, located near the computer catalogues in the library reception area, to establish the precise location of the paper you want. Reference material: (not borrowable)
