Newton - the University on-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)

The Marshall Library's holdings are available on-line via the University's on-line library catalogue - Newton. This can be accessed from dedicated computer catalogues located in the library reception area or, alternatively, from any computer connected to the Internet. There is a link to the Newton catalogue on the Marshall Library homepage (http://www.econ.cam.ac.uk/marshlib/index.htm)

Information about the Newton catalogue and how to search it is available on the University Library's website. Further information concerning Newton (developments, changes to the menus, further advice on searching) is available on-line and near the computer catalogues in the Marshall Library.

Finding a book, pamphlet or working paper

You can search the Newton catalogue for books using various types of search: 
  • Keyword anywhere
  • Author
  • Title
  • Subject heading
  • Boolean
  • ISBN/ISSN
Newton also incorporates a variety of search facilities which enable you to make your searches more efficient: the ability to limit a search by language, date of publication, or type of material and the ability to sort search results by author, title, date of publication, or relevance.
