Easter Vacation borrowingAll undergraduate and MPhil students are entitled to borrow five books for the vacation. PhD students may borrow eight. Vacation borrowing starts on:
All Open Shelf items must be returned to the Library by 6.45 p.m. on Tuesday 9th March, so that the shelves can be checked. To ensure all books are returned, overdue Open Shelf items will accrue fines of .50p per hour from 9.00 a.m. on Wednesday 10th March. On Wednesday 10th March all Open Shelf books can only be used in the Library. Reserve Books may be borrowed as usual. Those borrowed over Wednesday night will be due on Thursday before 10.30 a.m. From Thursday Reserve Books will be borrowable for one day and it will be possible to renew them online. All books borrowed for the vacation will be due back on Tuesday 20th April. Books borrowed for the vacation cannot be renewed online at the start of term. If you want to re-borrow vacation loan books you will need to physically bring them into the Library, have them discharged from your card, and then re-issued to you. Are you staying in Cambridge for the Easter vacation? If you intend to stay in Cambridge for the vacation and want to ensure that the books you will need are not borrowed and taken away from Cambridge, please fill in one of the forms available at the Issue Desk (or print out a copy here) and return it to us. We will then consider making these books into Reserve items for the vacation. What will this mean? The books you suggest that are added to the Reserve Book collection will be available for one day loans (renewable) during the vacation. This should ensure that the books remain in Cambridge and that you have easy access to them. It does not mean that you have reserved these books to take away for the vacation. Easter vacation opening hours Vacation opening hours will commence from Monday 15th March. From this date the Library will be open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays until the commencement of term-time borrowing on Monday 20th April. The Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday 31st March and will re-open at 9 a.m. on Thursday 8th April |
